KMC wins state recognition
Kansas Medical Center in Andover was one of 24 Regional Award winners during Kansas Department of Commerce Business Appreciation Month. Approximately 100 businesses were nominated across the state for the recognition.
The criteria used to determine award winners include employment numbers, what they give back to the communities, as well the quality of service provided.
The award was presented Tuesday afternoon in the lobby of KMC with hospital personnel, local and county officials, and state representatives present.
Renee Lippincott, regional project manager for KDOC’s South Central Kansas Regional Business and Community Development Office, presented a certificate and a letter from the governor to Dr. Badr Idbeis, CEO of KMC.
“The purpose of the Governor’s Business Appreciation Award program is to recognize Kansas businesses for their contributions to the local and state economy. Each year we recognize profit and non-profit businesses across the state,” Lippincott continued. “This is exciting – this is quite a facility. Dr. Ibbeis is the visionary…it’s obvious that the employees are important, KMC is active in the community and investing in the future…with a name like Kansas Medical Center, how can there not be a vision?”
Idbeis spoke briefly about KMC and credited the hospital staff, saying, “I accept this award on behalf of these special people and the board. They do good work 24/7 continuously.”
He also thanked Lippincott, Andover Mayor Ben Lawrence, and others for attending the ceremony.
David Alfaro, director of Butler County Community Development stated, “By being recognized by the Department of Commerce simply solidifies the importance of KMC to not only the City of Andover and Butler County, but also to the region as a whole.”
