Intermediate Care

The Intermediate Unit is a cross between a pre-operative/admissions and a post-operative surgical recovery room. Intermediate admits patients that are having procedures that are done in the cardiac catherization lab to admitting patients for surgical procedures or endoscopy.

Intermediate also recovers all types of surgical patients ranging from orthopedic (hip, knee, ankle), general surgery (cholecystectomy, PEG, Nissen fundoplication, thyroidectomy, hernia repair, tube placement, appendectomies, liver biopsies, GI endoscopy), vascular surgery (AV fistula, femoral-popliteal, pseudoaneurysm, AAA stents), plastic surgery (breast augmentation, breast reduction, abdominoplasty, liposuction, blepharoplasty, rhinoplasty), urology (TURP, TURBT, cystoscopies), post cardiac stent/angioplasty. Such recovery is monitored by experienced staff using state-of-the art equipment.

Intermediate staff have either an Intensive Care Unit or a Recovery Room background. The Intermediate staff works closely with anesthesia. The staff is knowledgeable, flexible, caring, team oriented and reliable.
